Description | The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, design and construct a new flagship Resource Management Center (RMC) and Storage Building, improve/widen existing entrance road, parking, utility extensions, and all other components needed to develop the site. The new facilities will provide for forestry management and administrative functions, forest ranger operations, forest visitor contact point, staff and public meetings, presentations, and trainings, and equipment and vehicle storage. The facility and site development should incorporate proven, economical sustainable techniques and technologies that result in an energy efficient and environmentally sustainable facility that reflects DCNR's mission, supports visitor connections with the outdoors, and demonstrates responsible stewardship of the natural environment. The design and construction of the RMC will be in accordance with USGBC LEED green building rating system for new construction and will target a minimum Certified rating. The PROFESSIONAL SELECTIONS MEETING is scheduled for THURSDAY, August 17, 2023, AT 10:00 AM. There is no Pre-Bid Meeting for Professional Selections. Michaux State Forest consists of approximately 86,000 acres of Commonwealth lands in the South Mountain region of south-central Pennsylvania. It holds a special and distinctive history as the "cradle of forestry" or the "crucible of conservation" within the state because of the Father of Pennsylvania Forestry, Joseph T. Rothrock's imprint on the area in establishment of the first School of Forestry in Pennsylvania in Mount Alto and the first forest tree nursery as well as many other first achievements in the region for forestry and conservation in the Commonwealth. |
