Masonry Restoration

Located in the Porter Square neighborhood, 8-10 Lancaster Street is a four-story plus basement brick masonry and wood frame residential building built in the tradition of the grand pre-war Cambridge apartment buildings. It includes 65 apartments. Work includes cutting and repainting deteriorated mortar joints at both brick masonry and cast stone trim units, rebuilding the outer wythe of an area of debonded and partially displaced brick masonry, and patching an existing spalled precast concrete window lintel. New pointing mortar shall be color and texture matched to the existing surrounding joints. Also included in the work is furnishing and installing staging or lifts as necessary for access to areas requiring repair; providing pedestrian protection as required; and other support services, including weather protection, site cleaning and restoration; and removal of debris. There is one Add Alternate to rebuild approximately 12 sf. of displaced brick masonry in the rear courtyard
