Description

Native Seed, Plug and Shrub Production and Planting Project Wet-mesic Flatwoods, Belle Isle Park, Detroit, MI For seed collection, nursery propagation, nursery production and installation of plant material for the Belle Isle Flatwoods Restoration Project currently underway. Belle Isle Park is a 982-acre island park in the Detroit River. The property is owned by the City of Detroit and leased to the Michigan DNR to operate Belle Isle as a state park. The Park consists of large, manicured picnic areas, many developed facilities and structures, roads and trails, a 200-acre wet-mesic flatwoods forest, and several reservoirs/lakes, canals, and wetlands. The flatwoods restoration project is an EPA-GLRI grant funded project to remove impediments and restore proper surface flow to the extent feasible across the flatwoods. This involves the removal of significant infrastructure including roads, trails and buildings as well as the establishment of new trails. Revegetation will occur in a variety of locations of varying size and natural community types. This project including seed collection, seed mixes, plugs and woody shrubs produced, and their installation will be awarded to a single vender. Itemized pricing for each of the four plant forms required for this project will be components of the bid. There will be no pre-bid meeting scheduled for this project. Bidders are encouraged to visit the island and these areas prior to bidding. Questions and answers will be submitted through SIGMA VSS. bidding system.
