2019 Aerial Sanitary Sewer Repairs

There are 6 areas of sanitary sewer repair and bank stabilization included in this project. Area 1: Walnut Creek at 287: An existing 8” PVC line spans the creek within a steel casing. The pipe is sagging and the ends have become exposed near the stream banks. This project proposes to replace the sewer line in a parallel alignment and stabilize the streambanks adjacent to the proposed crossing. Area 2: Walnut Creek Trib 2 at Hobby Lobby: An existing 12” PVC sewer line crosses an outfall channel from the Hobby Lobby detention pond. The outfall channel has downcut and exposed the pipe. This project proposes to relocate the manholes further away from the bank and convert the crossing to an aerial crossing with piers. Area 3: Walnut Creek at Fox Hollow: An existing 42” RCP sewer line crosses Walnut Creek near Fox Hollow Drive. The aprons along the streambank are undermined and the nearby banks are experiencing erosion. This project proposes to maintain the existing aerial crossing and stabilize the adjacent streambanks to resist future potential damage to the sewer. Area 4: Hogpen Branch at Cains Lane: An existing 12” PVC sewer main runs parallel to Hogpen Branch and is exposed at one location. Nearby, an 8” PVC sewer lateral runs parallel to a tributary to Hogpen Branch and is exposed in two locations. This project proposes to realign the sewers in this vicinity further away from the creeks. An existing parallel sewer configuration will be combined into a single sewer configuration within the project footprint. Area 5: Hogpen Branch at Brookfield: A manhole for an existing 27” PVC sewer line is currently exposed in the bank of Hogpen Branch behind Brookfield Lane. The City has made previous interim repairs to stabilize the manhole. This project proposes a combination of sewer relocation and bank stabilization to protect the sewer. Area 6: Walnut Creek at Linear Trail: Repair bank of Walnut Creek in 2 locations and install drainage swale with trail crossing.
