Cedar Heights Road Bridge (#04067) - Clearing and Grubbing/ Construction of Access Road

The Cedar Heights Road Bridge is located between Wire Mill Road and Rapids Road just south of the Merritt Parkway in North Stamford (see Location Plan). The existing bridge is scheduled to be replaced with work beginning in Spring/Summer 2021. Prior to bridge construction utility relocation work needs to be completed on the north side of the bridge to ensure utilities are not in conflict with future bridge construction. This project will consist of the construction of two (2) access roads (anti-tracking pads) and the clearing of trees, shrubs, etc. to facilitate utility relocation efforts by Eversource on the north side of the bridge. No grubbing will be required and trees, stumps, roots, etc. will be cut off to within 6” of the ground surface. Survey and stakeout of the easement/ROW lines will be performed in advance of construction (not in contract). Also, the exact location of the clearing limits and two construction access roads will be determined in the field prior to the start of construction. The approximate locations are shown on the attached plans. For bidding purposes assume 0.10 acres will be required to be cleared and that the construction access roads do not have to be removed at the end of construction. Silt fence should be provided as required and as ordered by Engineer during clearing operations.
