Description

SCOPE OF WORK: The contractor shall inspect the existing medical piped gas system for compliance with applicable National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 99, Compressed Gas Association (CGA), and American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) specifications and recommendations. The inspection shall include evaluation of patient terminals for pressure flow latching, detaching, leakage and proper labeling. An evaluation of area, master and local alarms via push button testing, for audible and visual signals, labeling, general condition, service location, test button for audible and visual signal system pressure gauges. An evaluation of all zone valves for leakage, proper labeling and general condition. An evaluation of all source equipment for proper configuration, redundancies, labeling local alarms, location and warning signage. Medical piped gas systems to be inspected: oxygen, medical air, nitrous oxide, nitrogen and medical vacuum. The contractor must contact the Facilities Management Engineering Section of the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center to make arrangements and schedule the inspection. The contractor shall conduct a solid and gaseous contaminant evaluation of the existing medical piped gas systems for compliance with applicable Joint Commission, NFPA 99, CGA recommendations. CONFORMANCE STANDARDS: All services provided under this contract must be performed in conformance with the NFPA, CGA and ASSE specifications and regulations. The requirement for this contract shall be one (1) annual yearly inspection for the medical piped gas systems. (www.nfpa.org) (www.asse.org) (www.cganet.com) REPORTING REQUIREMENTS: The Contractor shall be required to report to Facilities Management Office (or designated location), pursuant to any start of work during normal working hours. Normal business hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. This check in is mandatory. When the service is complete, the Contractor shall document services rendered on a legible field service report. The Contractor shall log out at the Facilities Management Office, (or designated location), and submit the field service report to the Contracting Officer Representative for a signature, during normal working hours. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: In the performance of this contract, the Contractor shall take such safety precautions as OSHA may determine to be reasonably necessary to protect the lives and health of occupants of the building. The Contracting Officer shall notify the Contractor of any safety issues and the action necessary to correct these issues. Such notice, when served on the Contractor or his representative at the work site shall be deemed sufficient for the corrective actions to be taken. If the Contractor fails or refuses to comply promptly, the Contracting Officer may issue an order stopping all or part of the work and hold the Contractor in default. The GAS OUTLET QUANTITES ARE AS FOLLOWS: 617 O2 513 Medical Air 51 Nitrous Oxide 58 Nitrogen 713 Vacuum 47 WAGD These are broken down into 257 Zone Valves, 1588 Patient outlet/inlets, 45 master alarms and 109 area alarms. There are 3 Medical Air and 3 Medical Vacuum Systems.
