Description | For Casting The City of Madison is soliciting bids for sanitary and storm sewer castings. The City of Madison Engineering Division is responsible for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Citys sanitary and storm sewer systems. The Citys sanitary sewer system consists of more than 750 miles of gravity and force main with nearly 20,000 sanitary access structures. The storm sewer system includes more than 500 miles of pipe with nearly 40,000 storm access structures and inlets. Quantities listed in this Request for Quotation are for the initial spring order. Delivery of all castings ordered in the initial order must occur no later than May 3, 2023. The unit prices quoted shall be used for additional casting needed throughout the full calendar years of 2023 and 2024 The specifications listed here are of the listed casting manufactured by Neenah Foundry. If proposing castings other than this, please provide one sample of each casting along with product documentation to substantiate product equality. Given the large number of existing castings in our sanitary and storm sewer systems requested substitution castings must be interchangeable with the specified casting. For example the substitute lid or grate must fit the corresponding Neenah casting. The City of Madison Engineering Division will review submitted documentation and inspect the casting to determine if the requested substitution meets the Citys needs. Gray iron castings used in the work shall conform to the requirements of the Specifications for Gray Iron Castings, ASTM A 48, Class 35 except as noted in Proposal under description of bid items and/or in referenced Standard Detail Drawings. The castings for sewer access structures, catch basins, and inlets shall be in accordance with the designs, dimensions, and details shown on the Standard Detail Drawings for the installation named, unless otherwise specified. Frames and lids for sewer access structures and catch basins shall be machined and fitted so that rocking and chattering will be eliminated. The lids installed on sanitary sewers shall have the self-sealing gaskets firmly glued in place at the factory. All cleanouts shall conform to the requirements in the Wisconsin Plumbing Code. The type of cleanout cap shall be approved in advance by the field engineer. The City will award the bid to the responsive and responsible bidder whose bid is most advantageous to the City. In determining the most advantageous bid, the City will consider criteria such as, but not limited to, cost, quality/workmanship, compatibility, standardization, major and minor exceptions to our specifications, superior design features, warranty, delivery, past experience, installation, equality, discount, customer satisfaction, bidders past performance and/or service reputation, and service capability. The City may opt to establish alternate selection criteria to protect its best interest or meet performance or operational standards. After the due date, no quotes may be withdrawn for a period of 90 days or as otherwise specified or provided by law The City reserves the right to award this bid on a per-item basis or on total net bid, whichever is deemed most advantageous to the City. Each item will be considered independent of any other item. The City will attempt to utilize the lowest bid when obtaining product, however the City Department reserves the right to obtain product from the most advantageous vendor/location. In making this determination, the Department will consider availability of product and proximity of vendor to project to minimize freight costs.
