"I have been at Geneva Heights for 21 years, so it is sad to see it come down, but I am so excited to be getting a brand-new building," said teacher assistant Maricruz Espinoza. The school's $31 million reconstruction investment is part of Dallas ISD's Bond 2020 project. This building has been a staple in the community since it opened its doors in 1931 and has served many generations of children. "I have had eight of my grandchildren attend Geneva Heights, my children volunteered here, and I have been working at the school for 19 years, so it is hard to watch it go, but a new building brings new opportunities for more students and staff to come," said office manager Leticia Rios. The new building will make its debut in fall 2024 with updated features including new classrooms, collaboration spaces, outdoor playgrounds, secured entrances, and much more. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scope of Work: 1. Environmental abatement. 2. Selective demolition of the two story 1930's building. The existing structural components and envelope to remain. 3. Renovation of the existing two story 1930's building including new roofing system, window systems, enhancements to the envelope, new Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems, Fire Alarm, Security and Technology, serving new offices, classrooms, library and support spaces. 4. Front Entry Vestibule and Lobby: A new secure front entry vestibule at main entrance on Goodwin Avenue. 5. Addition including a two-story classroom building, one story collaboration and circulation, one story Gymnasium that also serves as the storm shelter, and one story Food Service Addition. 6. Associated sitework will be provided for the new additions including new or relocated site utilities, new fire lane, relocated parking areas, new hardscape and landscaping. 7. Off site utilities serving the new Addition. Alternates include VCT in lieu of LVT flooring & glass demountable partition at STEM / Maker Space in lieu of storefront system. Unit prices are required for drilled piers. DISD requires 30% MWBE participation. Addendum #1-#2 have been issued as of 8-9-2022. Completed CSP Package Part 1-A, 1-B and 1-C are due 8-17-2022, 2:00 PM (Subcontractors bid date) Completed CSP Package Part 2 is due on 8-18-2022, 3:00 PM (HUB paperwork submittal by GC)
