Description | Deadline for Questions 17-Dec-2021 16:00:00 The pin and link assembly expansion joint retrofits include, but are not limited to, the removal of pins and link plates and replacement with new bushings, pins, and link plates; cleaning and painting the steel beam flanges, webs, and web doubler plates at the pin/link connections; and reconstruction of the expansion joint seals above selected pin/link connections, including local concrete deck patching. The project includes all Work described in the detailed specifications and drawings, including all appurtenant work and accessories, to the complete satisfaction of, approval, and acceptance by the City. This description of work is intended to be general in nature and is neither a complete description nor a limitation on the work to be performed. Contractor shall perform all Work described in the Contract Documents or reasonably inferable as necessary to produce the results specified therein, except to the extent specifically indicated in the Contract Documents to be the responsibility of others. The following includes a list of general quantities by structure and totals. Refer to Schedule of Prices for further quantity information. Concrete patching repairs are required at various locations throughout all bridges to facilitate expansion joint replacement work. The total quantity of repair is estimated at 10 cu. ft. This work includes removal of unsound concrete and placement of patching material in accordance with the project drawings and special provisions. Bridge No. 1, Structure No. 016-6103. 120 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder multi-level bridge structure. Cleaning and painting of existing structural steel is required for an approximate distance of 3 feet on each side of each pin and link assembly. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 764 feet of preformed neoprene expansion joint material shall be installed. Existing expansion joint cover plates at sidewalks shall be removed and ADA compliant preformed neoprene expansion joints will be installed. Bridge parapet modifications are required as a part of the expansion joint replacement work. Bridge No. 2, Structure No. 016-6104. 23 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder bridge structure. Cleaning and painting of existing structural steel is required for an approximate distance of 2 feet- 6 inches on each side of each pin and link assembly. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 156 feet of preformed neoprene expansion joint material shall be installed. Bridge No. 3, Structure No. 016-6105. 22 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder bridge structure. Cleaning and painting of existing structural steel is required for an approximate distance of 2 feet- 6 inches on each side of each pin and link assembly. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 150 feet of preformed neoprene expansion joint material shall be installed. Bridge No. 4, Structure No. 016-6491. 36 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder multi-level bridge structure. Cleaning and painting of existing structural steel is required for an approximate distance of 2 feet on each side of each pin and link assembly. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 227 feet of preformed neoprene expansion joint material shall be installed. Bridge No. 5, Structure No. 016-6492. 7 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder bridge structure. Cleaning and spot painting of existing structural steel is required where needed. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 64 feet of preformed neoprene rubber expansion joint material shall be installed. Bridge No. 6, Structure No. 016-6493. 8 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this multi-girder bridge structure. Cleaning and spot painting of existing structural steel is required where needed. Replacement of expansion joints is required for this structure as indicated on the project drawings. The existing joint material shall be removed and approximately 66 feet of preformed neoprene rubber expansion joint material shall be installed. Bridge No. 7, Structure No. 016-6497. 2 pin and link assemblies will be replaced for this two girder fracture critical pedestrian bridge structure. Cleaning and spot painting of existing structural steel is required where needed. No expansion joint replacement work is required.
