Description | **As of June 23, 2023, this project has not yet been awarded. The project is expected to be awarded on July 20, 2023.** Any questions must be submitted to the Lambertville City Clerk via email at cityclerk@lambertvillenj.org or by mail at 18 York Street, Lambertville, New Jersey 08530 and received no later than noon on April 13, 2023. Questions and their responses will be posted on the Lambertville City website along with the RFP. Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 10:5-31 et seq. and N.J.A.C. 17:27-1 et seq. The City of Lambertville owns wooded hillside properties rising above Ely Park east of Main Street, extending from Phillips Barber Road at the north end south to York Street. An existing hiking trail, known as the Lambertville Nature Trail, runs north to south in this area. The trailhead is on Alexander Road in Lambertville. The purpose of this project is to make improvements where necessary to the existing trail, and to expand the trail system. This project proposes to construct one new bridge, repair all eroded portions of the existing trail, and construct new trails totaling 4,923 linear feet to expand the existing trail system. Refer to Figure 1 below for details. The goal of the nature trail construction project is to create a sustainable hiking trail that is optimized for use by walkers, hikers and trail runners of most skill and ability levels. The trail shall be constructed to meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service (USFS) requirements for a Standard Terra Trail; Trail Class 3, Developed; Hiker/Pedestrian Managed and Design Uses, with these modifications: Native materials should be used as much as possible, and there should be no or minimal clearing of vegetation outside trailway. The only structure anticipated is the new bridge mentioned above. The majority of users are anticipated to be of beginner and intermediate skill levels; therefore the final layout and construction shall be considerate of those ability levels. |
