Description

This sale is an operator select fourth row first thinning of approximately 193 acres of planted slash pine and an operator select second thinning of approximately 224 acres of planted slash pine from Belmore State Forest in Clay County, Florida. Timber to be removed from the first thinning area includes every fourth row for access and select trees in the leave rows. Timber to be removed in the leave rows includes diseased, deformed, and suppressed trees as well as a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to leave a residual basal area of 60-70 square feet per acre. Timber to be removed from the second thinning area includes diseased, forked, all trees in the 5 to 9 inch diameter class and a portion of the trees in the 10 inch diameter class to meet the desired residual basal area of 60-70 square feet per acre. Existing take rows and loading decks are to be used for this area. Sale boundaries include roads, wetlands and obvious timber type changes. Estimated volumes to be removed includes 8,775 tons of pulpwood and 2,869 tons of chip-n-saw and better. This will be a twelve (12) month contract.
