Description

The work under this contract consists of constructing supplementary safety measures (SSMs) and upgrades at six (6) existing, active roadway-railroad at-grade crossings to improve safety at the crossings and to reestablish a Quiet Zone in accordance with United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations at 49 CFR Parts 222 and 229: “Use of Locomotive Horns at Highway Rail” (Chelsea Quiet Zone Project). Five (5) of the locations are in the City of Chelsea and one (1) is in the City of Everett. Each of the crossing locations will require conduit crossings be installed below the tracks. The Contractor shall determine means and methods for installing conduit track crossings without disturbing or undermining the track structure.
