Description

Preserve Tearney Building 38 Historic Exterior Stucco in Lower Town Harpers Ferry: project concerns architectural conservation treatments to stabilize the historic 19th century stucco, mortar, masonry, paint layers, and related finish features on the exterior back wall in the rear alley of the historic Tierney Building (Building 38) in Lower Town. The exterior back wall in the rear alley measures approximately 40 feet long and approximately 22 feet high for a surface area of 880 square feet which includes an approximate total of 600 square feet of existing exterior surface historic architectural finishes and remnants of stucco, paint layers, mortar, masonry, and wood/metal objects above and below the porch deck. Proposals shall also include an option for the cleaning, prepping, priming, and finish coat painting of the wood architectural features of the Building 38 rear alley north elevation: i.e. windows, doors, doorways, exhibit frames, and the porch decks, steps, framing, trims, gate, rails, posts, pickets, and related hardware. The architectural wood features for cleaning and painting include 4 doors in 4 doorways; 4 large 6/6 sash windows and frames; 4 small attic windows and frames; 2 large exhibit window frames: rear porch deck, framing, steps, stringers, trim boards, gate, posts, rails, and pickets; and related hardware. The porch area for painting extends beyond the northwest corner of B38 up and onto the landing and related painted wood features of the porch at the northeast corner of the adjoining Building 40. The approximate square footage for cleaning, prepping, priming, and painting is approximately 2500 square feet to include all topside, underside, and exposed surfaces of existing painted features.
