Description

Bear Canyon Trail is a hiking trail located on OSMP property west of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) facility in Boulder, Colorado. The objectives are to: 1) Construct a 3500 ft (2/3 mile) trail re-route to remove an existing section of trail from sensitive riparian (streamside) habitat in order to improve habitat conditions. This re-route is a priority (in part) to meet conditions of an existing City of Boulder Wetland Permit that was issued as part of a previous project. 2) Improve trail sustainability and reduce possible future flood damage to the trail, which currently crosses and runs adjacent to a creek. 3) Implement initial closure of the existing section of trail – additional closure and restoration work are expected to be completed separately by OSMP crews.
