Description | The major work to be accomplished under this contract will be the following: 1. Placement of Engineered Fill that will fill the existing depressed area of the site to provide drainage to the northwest corner of the site. 2. Installation of a new storm sewer line to the west along the southern property line and north along Belle connecting to existing manhole in the roadway. 3. Locating and removing the existing buried sewer approximately 42" in height. The buried sewer was once an open channel with brick/concrete walls with a shale bottom that a concrete arch was placed atop the walls and backfilled. 4. This work includes removal and returning to the city the drainage pumps and a transformer. 5. The work includes all utility coordination with First Energy to de-energize lines. 6. The work includes site restoration including fencing, pavement, curb, topsoil and seeding, and other appurtenances. 7. The work includes maintenance of traffic and erosion and sediment control. The Contractor is advised that the site contains PCE (Tetra chore thane) contaminants within the groundwater below the existing mud matt. The Contractor shall perform their work in a manner as to not discharge groundwater to the storm sewer system. If the Contractor's means and methods encounters high concentrations of contaminants then the Contractor shall mitigate the matter at their own expense and within EPA regulations. The Contractor shall fill a majority of the site draining to the northwest corner of the site. The contractor shall install a temporary sump with power draining the surface water to the existing sanitary manhole located on Belle. Upon successful testing of the collected water by the City (i.e., no PCE contaminants) for 2 consecutive successful tests, the Contractor may then remove the berm and complete the final grading, topsoil and seeding, as directed by the Engineer. |
