Description

This contract shall construct drainage improvements along Hilldale Drive and Nederland Avenue. Existing storm water drainage system lacks conveyance capacity and is undersized to meet Atlas-14 rainfall. Proposed conditions will focus on improving the conveyance capacity to meet current design standards. The proposed storm sewer in conjunction with the proposed roadside ditches will be able to reduce impact around the surround areas. Additional work entails removing and replacing driveway and roadway culverts, excavating roadside ditches to grades shown on plans to grades shown on plans, and installing erosion control materials. This project is located in Nederland, Texas. All work will be performed in strict accordance with local ordinances, codes, and current regulations. This contract shall include all necessary superintendence, labor, materials, equipment, tools, trenching, shoring, grading, backfill, surface restoration, hauling and disposal of excess spoil and/or debris and incidental items necessary for the proposed construction of this drainage project as shown in the plans and documented in the project specifications. The Contractor is responsible for the restoration of all disturbed surfaces, including pavement. All surfaces shall be returned to original condition or better. All restoration shall be substantially completed in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan for this project. The right is reserved by the City, as its interest may require, to accept or reject any or all bids, and to waive any informality in the bids received. Bids may be held by the City for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the bid opening for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the bidder's qualifications prior to the contract award. Attention is called to the fact that not less than, the federally determined prevailing (Davis-Bacon and Related Acts) wage rate, as issued by the Texas General Land Office - Community Development & Revitalization and contained in the contract documents, must be paid on this project. In addition, the successful bidder must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of race, color, religion, sex, sexual identity, gender identity, or national origin. The City is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Section 3 Residents, Minority Business Enterprises, Small Business Enterprises, Women Business Enterprises, and labor surplus area firms are encouraged to submit bids. All contractors/subcontractors whose System for Award Management (SAM.gov) registration is not active or that are debarred, suspended or otherwise excluded from or ineligible for participation on federal assistance programs may not undertake any activity in part or in full under this project. Upon award, the successful bidder will be required to furnish payment and performance bonds.
