Description

The Contractor shall erect and maintain construction signing, provide all signs, and traffic handling devices in accordance with the Traffic Control Plan. The costs for this work are to be included in the price bid for pay item 618-A: Maintenance of Traffic. All traffic control devices on this project should comply with the latest version of the MUTCD. Fluorescent orange sheeting shall be used on all construction and traffic control signs except for those designated in the plans to be black legend and border on white background. The Contractor shall use 42-inch channelizing cones with 6-inch-wide reflective tape and 16-pound vertical panel bases for each cone. The contractor shall remove any failed areas on the main facility as directed by the Project Engineer using the following construction sequence: a) Saw cut through the asphalt/concrete pavement. b) Remove the failed pavement. c) Remove any unsuitable material in the subgrade as directed by the Engineer. Removal of this material will be paid for as excess excavation. d) Back fill and stabilize the excavated subgrade with 19-mm, ST asphalt leveling. No lift of 19-mm asphalt pavement shall be greater than 3 1/2 " or as designated by the Engineer. Densities will not be required on this asphalt. The contractor shall compact each lift to refusal or as directed by the Engineer. e) All repairs must be complete by the end of the workday with all lanes open to traffic. Mill & Overlay approximately 1.4 miles of SR 822 (Old US 80) from the BOSM to East of SR 27 at Beechwood, known as Federal Aid Project No. STP-9658-00(005) / 108187301 in Warren County. Value Estimate Range - $1,000,000 - $5,000,000 For Federal Aid Projects the attention of bidders is directed to the contract provisions governing selection and employment of labor contained in the bid proposal. Minimum wage rates for Federal Aid Projects have been predetermined by the Secretary of Labor and are subject to Public Law 87-581, Work Hours Act of 1962, as set forth in the contract provisions. Unless otherwise set out in the bid proposal, all other projects are subject to the predetermined minimum wage rate set by the U.S. Department of Labor under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Mississippi Department of Transportation hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex, religion or national origin in consideration for an award. When a DBE goal is contained in the contract, the award will be contingent upon the Contractor satisfying the DBE requirements. A pre-bid meeting will be held in the Commission Room on the 1 st Floor of the MDOT Administration Building in Jackson, at 2:00 P.M. on the day preceding the date of the bid opening. Bid bond, signed or countersigned by a Mississippi Resident Agent or qualified non-resident agent, with Power of Attorney attached or on file with the Contract Administration Engineer of the Department, a Cashier's Check or Certified Check for five (5%) percent of bid, payable to STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, must accompany each proposal.
