Hanging Rock Road Widening - CP30003122 - County of Spartanburg

This project will provide funding for widening of Hanging Rock Road. Hanging Rock Road is approximately 1.6 miles in length and connects Valley Falls Road to Double Branch Road. The road is approximately 18 feet wide and is currently in fair to poor condition. This project includes a complete reconstruction which involves widening the road to 24 feet, improving horizontal curve and vertical hill issues, and installing any needed safety improvements (to include, but not limited to rumble strips, raised/reflective pavement markers, signage, guardrails, and pavement markings.) Included with this project is associated engineering design and right-of-way acquisition. Future funding for this project will be from General obligation bond proceeds. This project directly supports Council's strategic vision by being a core component of the County's infrastructure plan. The project also improves services provided to citizens by upgrading a roadway in a highly traveled corridor of the County. As of December 19, 2023, this project is included in the Spartanburg County 2024-2028 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). This is an ongoing project. Engineering and design services, along with the associated right-of-way acquisition, are currently in process and are expected to continue throughout FY 2022/23. Additional funding is planned for FY 2023/24. Design team has not been identified per owner. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
