Curb Boxes and Related Parts

All curb boxes and lids shall be of best quality materials and workmanship and shall conform to the dimensions and requirements of the Akron Public Utilities Bureau Drawing B-12480, dated April 1985. Two-inch boxes shall be for use with 1/2 to 1-inch curb stops and with 1-1/4 to two inch curb stops with a two-inch Yoloy or stainless steel pipe extension. Curb boxes shall be five feet long when fully extended. Curb boxes and lids shall conform to all dimensions shown on Drawing B-12480. Curb box lids for use with 1-1/2 inch extension pipe shall conform to the dimensions shown on Drawing B-12480. Both 1-1/2 and 2 inch curb box tops shall have a pentagon nut as shown on Drawing B-12480. All curb box tops shall have a brass ring insert to prevent galling of the plug to the box. Curb box rods shall be 3/4 inch stationary rods, or approved equal, as shown on Drawing B-12480. Each rod shall include a 3/16 x 3 inch brass cotter pin for attachment to the curb box stop. Bids for curb boxes of materials other than specified will be considered. Samples of the proposed curb box and descriptive literature should be available for inspection at the Triplett Boulevard Waterworks Building. Proposals for alternate material curb boxes with dimensions conforming to the drawing will be preferred.
