Description | The project involves the installation of a precast concrete box culvert and retaining walls (supplied by County), culvert installation, gravel base and subbase, hot mix asphalt paving, steel beam guardrails and other related incidental items on Patte Brook Road in Albany Township. All bidders must furnish the following: 1. A completed Bid Form. 2. Experience Record (see Section 2-D) 3. A list of all subcontractors to be utilized on the project. 4. A bid security in the amount of 5% of the total bid in the form of a Bid Bond or certified check, made out to the County of Oxford. The successful bidder must furnish the following: 1. Certificate of Insurance (in accordance with Section 3, Article 26) 2. 100% Construction Performance Bond 3. 100% Construction Payment Bond The County of Oxford will have sixty (60) calendar days within which to accept or reject any bid. In-water work for the installation of the concrete box culvert is allowed to start July 15, 2023 and must be completed by September 30, 2023. The work shall be completed by October 13, 2023. Liquidated damages in the amount of $250 per day are contained in the Contract. The County of Oxford reserves the right to adjust the quantities contained in the Bid Form as needed in order to stay within the project budget. The award of this project is contingent upon the receipt of grant funding from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. The County of Oxford reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive any technical or legal deficiencies, and to accept any bid which is deemed to be in the best interest of the County of Oxford, not necessarily the lowest bid. Work under this Contract includes all work required for the Patte Brook Road Stream Crossing Replacement project, for the County of Oxford, Maine. In general, the work includes the removal of the existing culverts, the installation of a precast concrete box culvert, retaining walls, gravel base, and hot mix asphalt paving. The precast concrete box culvert and retaining wall blocks will be supplied by the County. The Contractor shall supply all other material, labor and equipment required to complete all work required by the Specifications to affect a complete job. Specific items of work are included, but are not limited to: 1. Traffic control, including a road closure for a maximum of 2 weeks 2. Erosion and sedimentation control. 3. Common excavation and removal of the existing culverts. 4. By-pass pumping and cofferdams to maintain stream flow during the box culvert installation. 5. Installing a precast concrete box culvert (13' span x 7' rise x 45 linear feet) at the stream crossing location. The box culvert will be supplied by the County. The Contractor shall unload and install the box culvert segments at the job site, and coordinate these activities with the box culvert supplier. 6. Precast concrete block retaining walls. The retaining wall blocks will be supplied by the County. The Contractor shall coordinate delivery of the wall blocks with the supplier. 7. Gravel base and subbase, and gravel shoulders. 8. Installing butt joints at the beginning and end of work. 9. 2" base course of hot mix asphalt pavement (19.0 mm), and 1 1/4 " surface course of hot mix asphalt pavement (9.5 mm). 10. Steel beam guardrails 11. Loam, seed, and mulch or riprap on all disturbed areas |
