South Farms-Cable Rigged Camera System for Field Scale Phenotyping

The project is located on the east side of Race Street, about 3,000 feet north of Old Church Road within the South Farms research fields of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This project shall include the installation of four (4) steel towers (approximately 150 ft tall) and concrete foundations to support a conveyor system for a hyperspectral camera. The project shall include a climate-controlled enclosure/hut for the winch system located next to each tower. A small control structure shall house all controls and electrical gear. Power and data infrastructure shall be provided to each of the enclosures. A parking area for the control structure shall provide an all-weather, firm and stable surface to provide an accessible route from the parking space into the controls trailer. Temporary access route corridors will be provided for Contractor access from Race Street to the control structure and tower locations during construction activities. Upon project completion, all access roads shall be graded smooth and prepped for seeding. Seeding and turf establishment at all disturbed areas is included as a Bid Alternate. The steel towers will be furnished by Others for installation by the Contractor. The cable rigging system and hyperspectral camera shall be furnished and installed by Others. The winch housings will be furnished by Others for installation by the Contractor. The control structure, a job trailer, will be furnished by Others for installation by the Contractor. The control structure and winch houses shall be anchored to foundations constructed by the Contractor.
