Universal and Hazardous Waste Removal and Disposal

The work shall include, but is not limited to the following: 1. Remove from the site and lawfully dispose (with respect to all Department of Environmental Conservation, Westchester County Department of Health rules and regulations) of the following: 1. fluorescent lamps (intact and broken) 2. compact fluorescent lamps (intact and broken) 3. high pressure sodium lamps (intact and broken) 4. mercury vapor lamps (intact and broken) 5. metal halide lamps (intact and broken) 6. alkaline batteries 7. nickel-cadmium batteries 8. lithium batteries 9. lead acid batteries 10. ballasts containing PCBs 11. ballasts not containing PCBs . For above item nos. 1 thru 11, Contractor to provide boxes/containers at the COY Recycling Center (735 Saw Mill River Road, Yonkers) for placement of waste to be removed. Replacement boxes/containers shall be provided at time of pick-up of waste. Boxes/containers shall be properly labeled in order for COY personnel to place waste in appropriate boxes/containers. 1. At the initial set-up of the waste disposal operation, the Contractor shall provide a training program at the Recycling Center in order to instruct COY personnel regarding the policies and procedures of waste collection, storage and removal. The training shall not be less than one (1) hour in duration and at a time agreeable to both the Contractor and the Supervisor of the Recycling Center. 2. The sizes, and composition, of the containers to be provided shall be as described in the bid sheet. If a size container is not specified in the bid sheet the Contractor shall specify the industry standard sized container to be provided for that item. If the Contractor proposes a different size and/or composition container than what is specified in the bid, then the contractor shall specify the proposed container in the bid submittal.
