Description | 1. Preparation of Right-of-way shall consist of cleaning the edges of the roadway and removal of vegetation. 2. Where applicable, cross-culverts shall be repaired and extended and/or replaced as shown in the plans and/or as directed by the County Engineer. Contractor will match grades and flowlines with existing culvert elevations, or as directed by the County Engineer in the field. 3. Rework the existing pavement structure within the limits as designated and/or as directed by the County Engineer. Initial rework of the existing asphalt pavement and base material shall be to a total depth of eight inches (8”) utilizing Item 251, Type D. 4. Cement treatment of the scarified area shall be to a depth of eight inches (8”). Cement is to be applied at an estimated rate of 22 LBS/SY. The cement treated area shall be compacted by ordinary compaction methods. 5. An application of a Prime Coat MAY be applied to the roadway after the completion of cement treatment and prior to the HMAC overlay, at the discretion of the contractor, and/or as directed by the County Engineer. 6. HMAC overlay of the widened roadway shall include sweeping the pavement surface and the application of a tack coat immediately prior to the placement of a Type “D” HMAC surface course with a final minimum thickness of two inches (2”). Turnouts and radii of intersecting county roads shall be overlaid as part of this project and/or as directed by the County Engineer. 7. Upon completion of the HMAC overlay, the pavement edges shall be backfilled using the excess excavated material from the pavement widening. Excess material may be utilized for ditch maintenance activities and/or disposed of as directed by the County Engineer. 8. Existing mailboxes will be temporarily relocated during construction and replaced upon completion of widening and paving operations. |
