| Description | USGS Fredericksburg (FRD) Magnetic Observatory FRD Coil Control Building Emergency Roof Repair: Roof of this building is aluminum lap-seam roofs with a wood 2X6 sub-layer. The roof suffered wind and rain damage in late July 2021. The wind stripped off the aluminum roofing and exposing the sub-layers to weather. The damage to the building was severe, in that the aluminum roofing was completely removed (Fig. 3). The quick fix for this situation was placing a temporary tarp-membrane over the sub-layer and tacking it down. Even so, there is possible rain damage to the sub-layers and possible mold and insulation issues. |
