Description | **As of August 8 2022, the project has not been awarded as bids came in over the available budget. The work will include, but not be limited to, furnishing all labor, tools, select materials and performing all operations in connection with the Pyramid Water Treatment Plant - SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE ON-SITE GENERATION. The project replaces the existing gaseous chlorine dosing system with a new hypochlorite generation equipment. The City is providing the hypochlorite generation equipment, air blowers, water softener systems, brine tanks, hypochlorite tanks, dosing pumps, piping, instrumentation, electrical and other materials. The contractor is to supply select materials and install the hypochlorite generation equipment with all the interconnecting piping, tanks, valves, wires, and miscellaneous fittings necessary for a fully functioning system. Technical questions shall be directed in writing to the City of Unalaska at the email address Please email lgregory@ci.unalaska.ak.us to be placed on the Plan Holder List. All construction must be accomplished between fish processing seasons during periods of low domestic water demand and flow. The allowable window is after October 1, 2022 and before December 1, 2022 (Substantial Completion) to correspond with the low flow period. All Work shall be completed by December 15, 2022 (Final Completion). Besides staging and preparations, actual field Work is limited to the window defined above. Liquidated Damages. The OWNER and CONTRACTOR recognize that time is of the essence of this Agreement and that the OWNER will suffer financial loss if the work is not completed within the times specified above, plus any extensions thereof allowed in accordance with Article 11 of the General Conditions. These losses include inconvenience to the City, administration and inspection costs, loss of efficiency and general inconvenience to the public. They also recognize the delays, expense, and difficulties involved in proving in a legal or arbitration proceeding the actual loss suffered by the OWNER if the work is not completed on time. Accordingly, instead of requiring any such proof, the OWNER and CONTRACTOR agree that as liquidated damages for delay (but not as a penalty) CONTRACTOR shall pay the OWNER One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) for each day that expires after the time specified above for Final Completion and readiness for final payment. |
