Description | Contract for Progressive Design Build™ services for the Groundwater Recharge Wetland Project. The project consists of planning, designing, permitting and constructing a wetland system that will receive 3 million gallons per day (MGD) of reclaimed water from the GRU Kanapaha Water Reclamation Facility (KWRF). Future phases of the project will increase the recharge capacity of the site to 5 MGD. The wetland system will be created on a 75-acre site that is currently well-drained upland. The project is integral to GRU’s water resource management plan. It will increase the beneficial reuse capacity of the KWRF and provide aquifer recharge. The project is listed in the North Florida Regional Water Supply Plan as supporting the Lower Santa Fe Ichetucknee River Minimum Flows and Levels Recovery Strategy. The project is being constructed with cost share funding from the Suwannee River Water Management District and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Upon project completion, it is intended the wetland system will be open to the public as a nature park. |
