Description | The Union Hills WTP is a 160 Million Gallon per Day (MGD) direct filtration facility located at 2001 East Deer Valley Road near the southwest corner of Deer Valley and Cave Creek Roads. The facility treats raw water from the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal for ultimate distribution to the City of Phoenix potable water distribution system. The Union Hills WTP was originally constructed in the mid-1980s and underwent other modifications and upgrades in the 1990’s and 2000’s. The WTP treats the CAP Canal water with various operations and processes consisting of: Bar Screens 1. Raw Water Screw Pumps 2. Pre-Sedimentation Basins with Hydraulic Scrappers 3. Raw Water Pump Station 4. Aeration Basin 5. Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filters 6. Chlorination, Fluoridation, Caustic Soda, Ferric Chloride Chemical Facilities 7. Disinfection Facilities 8. Finished Water Storage Reservoir 9. Finished Water Pump Stations 10. Solids Handling Facility 11. Administration Building. |
