Description | This project refurbishes Buildings #46 (approx. 24,50SF) and #67(approx. 10,000 SF) at the Washington Navy Yard (WNY) for the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC). The renovation will include upgrading the architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and fire protection systems of each building, in accordance with current Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), local/regional codes and (FC) 4-760-10N, Navy Museums and Historic Resource Facilities, 1 December 2013 and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Requirements, Directive 1571, 15 February 2002. Buildings #46 and #67, which are considered low-rise facilities, will contain a structural steel skeleton inside the existing walls and a composite metal floor deck filled with concrete forming a new second floor and ceiling structure. The new walls and second floor will be supported by a pile foundation, consisting of piles, pile caps and grade beams. The roof of Building #46 will be replaced with a new slate roof and metal deck; the roof of Building #67 will be replaced with a built up roof. The building envelope includes moisture, air, ultra violet wall construction and thermal barrier strategies. The primary functions programmed for the renovated buildings include a research area, archives storage, photo research, special collections and rare books, processing and library stacks, underwater archeology offices, storage and lab, art storage, art shop, art mezzanine, histories branch and a Secure Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). While not all of the tenants and components will be housed in Buildings #46 and #67, these buildings will contain a large portion of archives, artifacts, photographs and administration for the Command. Information Systems include basic telephone, computer network, fiber optic, cable television, and fire alarm/mass notification systems and infrastructure. Project provides the infrastructure for the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) system, Unclassified but Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET), Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS), Common Operating Environment (COE) and Cyber Security features. This project will provide Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (ATFP) features and comply with ATFP regulations and physical security mitigation in accordance with DoD Minimum AntiTerrorism Standards for Buildings. Project includes AT/FP compliant windows and doors. BuiltIn Equipment includes a hook-up for an emergency generator, fume hood, uninterrupted power system, overhead bridge crane (three ton), passenger/freight elevator (two stop), high capacity modular storage system and hazardous material abatement. |
