Description | The Project involves the development, design, construction, procurement of FFE (furniture, fixtures, and equipment), operation, and maintenance of an expansion and renovation to the police headquarters and addition of City Court, which will provide space and services for the law enforcement and justice systems. The Project consists of an expanded and renovated police headquarters building, court facilities and offices for the City Clerk. City currently contemplates that the Project will include: • Demolition, clearing, and all site preparations at 998 South Rangeline Road (the “Huntington Bank Site”). • Partial renovation of the existing police station at 3 Civic Square (the “Police Station Site”) including, but not limited to, certain new finishes, space plan changes, electrical and mechanical upgrades, and reconfiguration of the site layout. • A two-story infill addition to the existing building north of the current entrance on the Police Station Site. • A three-story building addition that will be located on the Huntington Bank Site with mezzanine mechanical space that will provide a new public entry from Rangeline Road. • A sally port that connects the existing building to the new three-story addition, which includes limited parking, prisoner transfer facilities, fitness center, training space, vehicle storage and armory. • Site upgrades to the Rangeline Road frontage including stair and ramp system with planters to act as vehicle buffers. • All necessary utility and site improvements to support both the existing building and new addition. The existing police station will continue to operate during construction and renovation. Careful coordination with the police department leadership will be critical to preserving operational efficiency as well as providing for the physical safety of both public visitors and department personnel throughout the construction phase. It is expected that the three-story addition will be completed and operations will be relocated into the addition while the existing building is renovated. While generally the police department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, night time and weekend work may be necessary to properly construct some portions of the existing building renovation to minimize disruption. Site development includes any and all site development required for the development of this Project, including but not limited to on-site new utilities and reconfiguration of existing utilities, hardscape/landscape, road and traffic control improvements (on and adjacent to the site), parking modifications, overall site security upgrades, and utility improvements from the property boundary to support the Project. |
