Citywide Bridge Inspections

Engineering firms to perform routine and emergency in-service safety inspections of bridges and culverts, including underwater inspections and inspection of navigational lights of designated bridges, throughout the City of Hampton. The firm shall also be responsible for preparing and submitting inspection reports, to VDOT and the City of Hampton as well as providing 1 and 5 year recommendations and plan-preparation for routine and emergency bridge maintenance and repairs in accordance with the requirements of the Virginia Department of Transportation, National Bridge Inspection Standards, the City of Hampton Public Works Standards, and the City of Hampton Utility Policy. The firm shall also be responsible for reviewing, providing comments and approving plans submitted to the City of Hampton for any proposed work that may affect the functions and integrity of bridges or culverts. The firm shall be responsible for furnishing all required tools, techniques and engineering programs and skills to successfully conduct and finish inspections efforts. The firm shall also submit a proposal for each inspection-task to include a detailed scope of work for the specific structure that includes an itemized cost estimate and a time-line schedule to finish the task. All work shall be performed under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
