Description | The Work will consist of approximately 680 linear feet of storm sewer pipe, drainage structures, and roadway repair. The proposed work will require the demolition of the existing drainage infrastructure, as well as cementitious filling of existing storm pipes. Sections of the existing boardwalk will be required to be removed for the removal and replacement of the storm sewer pipes and structures. An existing concrete slab is proposed to be removed and replaced with brick pavers or with new concrete. These two options are broken down in Additive Alternate #1 and #2. Storm sewer pipe being installed in the roadway will require demolition of asphalt and curbs and is proposed to be replaced to match its existing grades All Bids must be on blank forms provided in the Specifications and submitted in its entirety. A cashier's check drawn on an Alabama bank or a Bidder's bond, payable to City of Daphne, Alabama, for an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid, but in no event more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), shall be filed with the Bid. The Bidder's bond shall be prepared on the form specified and signed by a bonding company authorized to do business in the State of Alabama. A performance bond in the form and terms approved by the City in an amount not less than the contract price will be required at the signing of the Agreement. A labor and materials bond in the form and terms approved by the City in an amount not less than the Contract Price insuring payment for all labor and materials shall also be required at the signing of the Agreement. In addition, the Contractor must furnish to the City at the time of the signing of the Agreement a certificate of insurance coverage as provided in the Contract Documents. The City reserves the right to reject any and/or all Bids and to waive informalities and to furnish any item of material or work to change the amount of the Contract Price. Liquidated damages for non-completion of the Work within the Contract Times will be assessed in accordance with the terms of the Contract. The Engineer for the Project is Kyle Strachan. The Issuing Office for the Bidding Documents is Dewberry Engineers Inc., 25353 Friendship Road, Daphne, AL 36526. Prospective Bidders may examine the Bidding Documents at the Issuing Office on Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and may obtain copies of the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office as described below. The City may conduct such investigations as the City deems necessary to establish the responsibility, qualifications, and financial ability of Bidders, proposed Subcontractors, Suppliers, individuals, or entities proposed for those portions of the Work in accordance with the Contract Documents. The City may disqualify Bidders that have had prior demands placed on a bid bond, payment bond, or performance bond within the last five (5) years prior to the date of this Bid submission. The City may disqualify Bidders that have prior or existing litigation arising from allegations regarding the quality of work performed on any contract within the last five (5) years prior to the date of this Bid submission. No Bid shall be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days subsequent to the opening of Bids without the consent of the City Council of City of Daphne, Alabama. |
