Description | The Project: The existing Berlin Fire Department has two roof areas that require re-roofing, the existing Bell Tower, and the existing Main Roof. The existing Bell Tower has an approximate 14' x 14' footprint with a pyramid roof that requires re-roofing with new asphalt. The Bell Tower roof has communication equipment that must remain operational throughout all construction activities. The Bell Tower has a roof access hatch that will be replaced as part of the project scope. The Bell Tower has exposed wooden rafter tails and sheathing boards that will be repaired, or replaced as necessary, and refinished. The existing Main Roof has an approximate 52' x 84' (4,368 sq.ft.) footprint. The Main Roof is essentially a flat roof with marginal pitch to internal drainage that is to be replaced with new EPDM. The existing membrane and stone ballast is to be removed as part of the project scope. The Main Roof has an attic access hatch that is to be replaced in kind. All roof edge conditions and associated flashings, as well as a small parapet wall is to be replaced as part of the project scope. All roof penetrations are to be replaced in kind with new. |
