Description

The purpose of the project is to maintain roadway access when flooding occurs while the Gila River is flowing and identify future roadway needs of the segment between Indian Spring Road and Southern Ave. The objective of this project is to develop and evaluate alternatives to: eliminate the number of closures; improve the connectivity on El Mirage Rd. from Indian Springs Rd. to Southern Ave.; decide the best strategy to alleviate the flooding of El Mirage Rd.; and to determine a recommended alternative for improvements to move forward to final design and construction. The recommended alternative will be developed to a 30% design, except if a bridge is determined to be the recommended alternative. If a bridge alternative is selected then the design development will end at the recommended alternative level and the Scoping and Design Report (SDR) will be continued to be developed to the Final SDR stage.
