York Woods South Shelter Repairs

Scope of work shall include log post & lateral post structure rehabilitation and asphalt shingle roof replacement of a 1,500 SF wood shelter constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. This project will correct several structural deficiencies by replacing the post and roof support construction points. Due to the high cultural value of this shelter, emphasis on emulating the existing structure was incorporated. This project is subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/0.01 et seq. The contractor shall also abide by the employment of Illinois Workers on Public Works Act (30 ILCS 570, sec 1-7). Consideration of contract award will likely be made on Tuesday September 20, 2022. Minority business firms are encouraged to submit bids on the project and successful contract bidders are encouraged to utilize minority businesses as subcontractors for supplies, equipment, services and construction. The Forest Preserve Commission reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive technicalities.
