| Description | The 704th Test Group (704 TG) mission is to be the premier provider of unique test and evaluation capabilities relevant to tomorrow's warfighter through world-class people improving technical excellence, cost-effectiveness, and agility. The 746th Test Squadron (746 TS) is assigned to the 704 TG. The 746 TS conducts Global Positioning System denial and Inertial Navigation System testing. The 746 TS is responsible for testing defense critical systems for the Air Force and Department of Defense. These tests require a high degree of reliable and stable power greater than what is available through conventional uninterruptible power supply systems. The system implemented is a motor-generator which converts commercial alternating current (AC) power to direct current (DC) power, providing DC power to a series of inverters and batteries. The inverted AC power is supplied to the motor-generator set which in turn delivers fully conditioned AC power to the systems that comprise the load. The motor-generator is a two component unit which involves connecting a precisely controlled motor to an AC generator and results in complete isolation of the loads from the commercial and generator sources. Periodic maintenance vibration measurements show that the motor-generator set is no longer in tolerance. Overhaul is indicated to prevent catastrophic failure. This is a high priority resource. The 746 TS requires the motor generator be repaired and returned to full operational capability. | ||
