Description

Mechanical and hydraulic dredging to remove the sediment accumulation relating to Hurricane Irma. Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Engineer) will be providing construction administration and continuous monitoring during the construction activities. Contractor shall provide all expertise, personnel, tools, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision and all other services and facilities of any nature necessary to execute, complete and deliver sediment removal services to restore canals, including but not limited to the timely removal and lawful disposal of sediment as requested by the Village. The utilization of the mechanical and hydraulic system in the collection of a slurry from the canal bottom comprised of sediment and saltwater. The vessel-based dredge excavates and places the material in a dedicated dewatering area. The contractor willutilize a passive dewatering system to handle the dredged material. The dewatering system will be located either in the canal on the barge or withing the upland staging area adjancent to the canal. Once dewatered, the material will be transported to an approved upland disposal location dependent on the chemical characteristics of the material. The Contractor will be responsible for securing the upland staging area and upland disposal locations. The Contractor must install temporary construction fencing, consisting of jersey barriers and construction fencing or equivalent, around the staging area(s) and remove the fencing upon completion of the project. The Contractor shall return all staging area property to its original condition or better which includes re-grading and re- sodding of disturbed areas.
