Description | The District is seeking proposals for SPB capable switches from a qualified Network Service Provider at approximately (75) district locations on the District network. The district is looking to add more data center core and top of rack switches to the SPB Fabric enabled WAN which requires the capability of connecting to existing BCB and BEB with native SPB fabric NNI links. Additionally, the District is looking to purchase some distributed wiring closet switches that can act as a SPB fabric proxy to upstream SPB switches. Furthermore, the District seeks to replace and/or upgrade many optical connections. The district will accept proposals based on the following equipment list or equivalent. Equivalents must be shown to be interoperable with existing BPS equipment. Specifically All alternative proposals must include descriptive methods of integration with existing BPS SPB infrastructure and IP shortcuts. This must be written specifically for the BPS environment. The 7720 models (BEB, aka data center core switches) are intended to be a top of rack and must include layer 3 Virtual Service Networking and multiple Layer 3 virtual services routing instances (VRF), along with IPv4/6 shortcuts with UNI and NNI link capability to integrate with the existing BPS fabric architecture and routing. o The BEB nodes need sufficient 40/100 Gig NNI links to BCB and other BEB nodes. o The BEB will have enough 10/25/40/100 Gig links to servers. The 5420 models are intended to be used as distributed switches outside of the wiring closets. They are intended to connect to a BEB/Fabric switch and be able to act as an SPB Fabric proxy. The Optics and DAC cable need to be 100% compatible with the latest Extreme software releases as the District recently encountered several incompatible optics and cables.
