Waste Management Evaluation

Solid Waste is defined as household and commercial garbage, recycling, yard and organic waste, construction debris, and any and all bulky waste items such as appliances, furniture, and metal. This evaluation should include: whether the city should require mandatory solid waste, recycling and organic waste service; how to increase the Citys landfill diversion; how local control can help accomplish Climate Action Plan goals and minimize greenhouse gas emissions; preparation for the future of waste collection and treatment, including any forthcoming related legislation and/or new regulations; an evaluation of rates and costs; and the potential for the development of a City-sponsored bio-digester that would require dedicated organic waste streams.
