Description | Rockingham County is now accepting sealed proposals for the first phase of the Rockingham County Governmental Center Campus Trails. Rockingham County is soliciting proposals for a qualified design-build team(s) who are interested in providing the following services: community input meetings, funding proposals, design, construction, supervision, materials (as necessary) and equipment to perform specified trail design and construction for the first phase of the Rockingham County Governmental Center Campus Trails on property that is owned by Rockingham County, located at 371 NC Hwy 65 in Wentworth, NC 27375. Rockingham County invites and encourages participations in this procurement process by minority-owned businesses, women-owned businesses and business owned by disabled persons. Rockingham County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals submitted, to waive technicalities and informalities in bidding, and to accept a proposal other than the lowest submitted if such is in the best interest of the County. Minimum qualifications are required as specified in the RFP, but any additional information is accepted as well. Rockingham County would like the accepted contractor to create a preliminary trail design and adjust the design where appropriate, with the intent of incorporating public input, mitigating erosion, to lessen environmental impacts, and increase enjoyment of the user experience. An environmentally conscious design and build is expected. Throughout the entire build, Rockingham County expects the selected contractor to use best practices and follow the International Mountain Bicycling Association guidelines (IMBA). The County would like for the initial phase of trails to be approximately 3 miles in length. The selected contractor should demonstrate extensive experience in public input meetings for trails, grant writing, collaborative trail design, multi-use trail design, multi-use trail construction, and working with volunteers. A Masters Degree in landscape architecture is preferred. Proposals shall be hard copy with a minimum of 5 copies to be submitted. Emailed copies will not be accepted. The intent of this RFQ is to create a multi-use trail system that is dynamic and will create an intimate experience that allows users to enjoy the aesthetics of the forest. The trail tread will be expected to consist of compacted mineral soil; however, other natural materials, such as wood and stone, may be used where necessary for the best design. Rockingham County will select a vendor for this service after the proposals have been reviewed and evaluated. |
