The Samuel S. Stratton Albany VA Medical Center is currently seeking to Renovate the Chapel, located on the Eleventh (11th) Floor B-Wing of the Hospital. Mold has been exposed behind the wallpaper in the chapel area and needs to be remediated per the Moisture and Mold Management Program VHA Standards before the Chapel can reopen. During the mold remediation process several other renovations will need to occur as well. The items for the Scope of Work in the chapel include, but not limited to the following: o Removal of pew front starters and 8 pews on each side of the chapel (16 total pews), each pew is approximately 8'-4" long. Pew removal is required to gain access to the walls for proper mold remediation, wallpaper removal, and wall re-finishing/painting. Remove pews carefully without damaging the floor. o Remove all wallpaper on the walls in the entire chapel (including the two square columns located in the rear of the chapel). Total wallpaper area removal is approximately 1800 square feet. o Perform full mold remediation in the entire chapel per the Moisture and Mold Management Program VHA Standards. o Prepare, prime, and paint all walls including square room columns in rear, with a mold and mildew inhibiting paint as the new finishing for all the walls. o Remove all carpeting in the front of room/alter area and replace with new. Total carpeting area is approximately 500 square feet. o Remove and replace all ceiling grid and ceiling tiles. New ceiling tiles need to be mold and mildew resistant. Total ceiling area is approximately 2200 square feet. o Remove and replace all florescent 2'x4' ceiling light fixtures in addition to eleven round recessed lights above the alter. All fixtures should be replaced with new LED lights and verified all new lighting is functioning correctly. The twelve speakers in the ceiling should remain in the same locations/reused. Speakers will need to be tested/verified that they are functioning properly with the new ceiling. o Replace all window curtains and curtain hardware with new. The windows are approximately 25'-10" long by 4'-5" tall (2 sets of 5 windows next to each other on opposite sides of the room). o Reinstall the removed pew front starters and all pews back to their original locations mainly after walls are completed. o Clean thoroughly wooden base molding. o Clean thoroughly all the pews. o Clean thoroughly the entire chapel after renovation is completed.
