Description | Pursuant to M.G.L c. 149A, the Town of Somerset is seeking Statements of Qualifications for Construction Manager at Risk services for the construction of a currently designed 124,200 SF new Somerset Middle School to be located on the current Middle School site at 1141 Brayton Ave., Somerset, MA 02726. The construction delivery method will be CM at Risk with a Guaranteed Maximum Price. This RFQ is the first phase of a two-phase procurement process pursuant to M.G.L c. 149A, 6. Only those respondents deemed qualified will be invited to respond to an RFP issued in the second phase. Estimated Cost $70,000,000 Contractor Qualification DCAMM Certificate This project is to construct a new middle school at the current Somerset Middle School site to house 590 students in grades 6-8. The approximately 25 acre site is located at 1141 Brayton Avenue, Somerset, MA. Construction of the new school will occur in phases to allow for the existing school to remain occupied. Once the new Middle School building is completed, the existing building will be demolished, and site work will take place in that area. Exterior work will include the completion of related site improvements, underground utilities, parking and on-site service and fire access roadway. The scope of site work includes ground improvements, erosion control, roadways, pedestrian sidewalks, drainage improvements, retaining walls, earthwork, utility services, landscaping, site amenities, and fencing. The Project includes the abatement and demolition of the existing Somerset Middle School Building. The existing Middle School and adjacent surroundings will remain in full operation while the new building is constructed. Public busing, staff and parent vehicular patterns will continue to be in use and be completely secured from construction activities. A new temporary staff parking lot and road extension will be constructed prior to removal of existing staff parking and associated roadways. The Contractor is to work closely with Somerset Public Schools and Somerset Middle School to keep disruption of the existing Middle School to a minimum during construction of the new building. This would include, but not limited to, no noisy construction work during testing days, and coordination with school or event parking and traffic. Early enabling site construction is being considered. The current building design includes brick masonry with stone veneer and precast elements, punched window openings, curtainwall, GFRP, and horizontal cladding. The roof is a flat membrane system that will house some MEP equipment with capacity for the existing photovoltaic arrays to be installed. The building mechanical system includes roof top units, boilers, building management system, lighting controls, emergency generator. The building will be fully sprinkled.
