State Route 1 Bridge Replacement - c401402 - City of Santa Cruz

The Project Study Report (PDS) has identified the need to replace and widen the critical Highway 1 bridge over the San Lorenzo River. The City has completed the PDS and will start environmental review and design, as staff resources become available. The PDS was approved by Caltrans. The projects goals are to improve traffic capacity, safety, flood flows and fish passage, and provide seismic stability. With the current deteriorated condition of the bridge, replacement is highly recommended. The PDS estimates the construction cost range from $9 to $15 million. A grant application has not yet been filed. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
