Electrical Service Upgrade

The work is located at the Pittsburgh Engineer Warehouse and Repair Station (PEWARS) located at 3500 Grand Avenue, Neville Island, PA 15225. The overall project consists of upgrading the electrical service to the PEWARS facility. Commercial power service is provided by the Duquesne Light Company (DLCo). The existing service consists of pole mounted transformers and overhead conductors. The new service will consist of a pad mounted 750 KVA distribution transformer and primary switch. All features of the 22kv primary including the pad mount transformer and the primary load break switch will be provided and installed by the DLCo. Secondary service shall be 2,400 volts, three phase, Three wire operation. The 2,400 volt secondary shall be the responsibility of the contractor to install. The Government has installed all transformer and switchgear conduits, concrete pads, grounding system, and the customer pole required for the upgrade. The Contractor shall furnish and install all necessary equipment and service cables to successfully connect the DLCo transformer’s 2,400V secondary terminals to the existing medium voltage electrical system at the PEWARS facility, as well as coordination as required with the DLCo to ensure the project is completed according to DLCo Reference Drawings No. 381079-T1 through 381079-T5.
