Description | Description of Maintenance Work: a. Inspect and document condition of existing round wood transmission poles. b. Identify poles that have internal and external decay and apply treatment as appropriate. c. Identify poles requiring reinforcement or replacement. The line section begins at the Northwest Iowa Power Cooperative (NIPCO) J-11 switching station in Harlan, Iowa and ends at MidAmerican Energys Avoca substation in Avoca, Iowa. The approximate length is 12.8 miles. The majority of the line follows US Highway 59. Work under the contract may commence on or about September 15th , 2022. Work must be complete by June 1, 2023. Each proposal shall be sealed in an envelope marked with the Contract identification as follows. Avoca Line Ground Line Inspection and Treatment. Alternatively, bids may be submitted in .pdf format to the email address listed above. Email subject line must include Bid Enclosed for Avoca Line Ground Line Inspection and Treatment. Payment will be made to the Contractor in an amount of 100% of the completed contract value not earlier than 31 days from the final acceptance of the work by Owner. Payment to the Contractor for completion of the work will be made in cash derived from available cash on hand from revenue and such other sources as may be available to Harlan Municipal Utilities. The City of Harlan shall not incur any general obligation for the work. The contract for the furnishing of the work shall not constitute a general obligation of the City of Harlan nor be payable in any manner by taxation.
