Description | The project is to conduct a structural investigation and address underlying structural issues on exterior structural components to include but are not limited to: Priority: Provide shoring at firewall condition between 27C and 27D cell locations (north elevation); remove light fixture mounting; reconstruct 17” brick masonry construction that is shearing at end conditions. Determine cause of separation (i.e. anchored light fixture?). Rebuild these end wall conditions to be structurally sound to re-mount light fixture and to prevent re-occurrence; reuse brick where possible. New brick and mortar to match existing size and color. Priority: Structural repair or replacement of concrete canopy sections (rear of Building 27 – Repair Brick Facade Work Order Number NSA Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 1671443 building – south side) at Loading Dock 27A that is cracked. Repair/rebuild end wall conditions at other firewall locations showing signs of preliminary separation. Refurbish or replace steel lintels and relief angles (investigate cause of parapet separating/shifting perimeter of building) where there is severe corrosion. Structural repair of spalled concrete foundation; repair wall condition at SW corner where wall is starting separate from building. Structural repair (or replace) spalled/cracked cast stone lintels above windows; refurbish rusted steel lintels. Determine potential cause and make necessary repairs where parapet appears to be shifting around building perimeter – remove & salvage surface mounted fixtures, as req’d to perform work; reinstall same location after repair work is completed. Exterior Facade Repairs Conduct a survey of the entire building facade and provide the necessary repairs or replacement: Repoint mortar joints & repair cracks around entire building facade. Provide weather-proof louvers and insect screens to replace existing wood louvers and at missing locations – louver profiles to match previous existing; block off on interior at locations not requiring ventilation (consult SHPO if brick infill is considered at these locations in lieu of a louver). Provide flashing and cover at expansion joint locations that are missing components; scrape & remove paint (down to bare metal) on existing covers (paint may contain lead) prime and repaint all covers. Conduct HAZMAT sampling/testing and removal of any susceptible hazardous materials affecting the project scope of work (i.e. lead paint various locations). New Construction Remove existing window (1st window east side of fire wall separating B27C & B27D) and provide a hollow metal door and frame; provide accessible compliant ingress/egress to grade. |
