Description

This task order will consist of the supply and installation of windows and doors and other associated work based on the below narrative and Construction services associated with Building 58 Windows and Door replacements at Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna PA. The construction services necessary to complete this building renovation includes providing all licenses, permits, labor, materials, equipment, supervision and management to complete the project. All and any exceptions shall be submitted in writing. Area specific details are included on the building drawing provided. Accuracy of drawings shall be confirmed by the contractor. Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) is not responsible for the accuracy of any drawings provided. It is recommended to field measure the building. Any and all reference to a Brand Name should be considered as a brand name or equal. This project shall follow the standard Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) Installation Design Guide (IDG) specifications. Building 58 has fifteen windows that will be removed and replaced. These windows vary in size and shall be field verified for actual width and height. The attached drawings are an approximate depiction of the existing sizes, locations and quantities. All shall be verified in the field prior to bid submission. The new window units shall be dark bronze Aluminum thermal broken insulated units with both fixed and operating awning type windows as shown in the drawings package. Basis of bid shall be Kawneer 501T or equal. The existing windows have failed through the years and this has also caused damage to the laminated sills and damaged the wall below. This damage will also require replacement of the drywall and framing and may possibly require potential mold remediation in the general area of the window. The existing sills and associated damaged drywall shall be removed. The new sills shall be a solid phenolic material approximately 1” thick and will extend beyond the face of the wall by 1” with fillet relief corners. Samples shall be submitted for approval prior to purchase and installation. The drywall replacement around the window and door areas shall match the existing area drywall thickness and shall be taped, spackled, sanded and the entire wall in which the window is located shall be painted to match the adjacent walls color. Color samples shall be submitted for approval. There are three hollow metal doors and frames which will be replaced with new insulated hollow metal doors and frames. These doors are located in the south side classrooms and mechanical room and are also depicted in the plan attached. The new doors and frames shall be painted to match the dark bronze standard trim/door color for the building and color samples will be submitted for approval. These door systems shall be weather stripped prevent drafts and shall have egress hardware with closers as per the TYAD IDG Specifications. Standard locks and exterior lever handles with large core cylinders shall be installed as per the specifications standards requirements. Doors shall be steel 16 Ga flush style. Panic bars shall be installed on the interiors of the doors. The existing window unit, located within the entrance foyer on the west end of the building shall be fully caulked at the perimeter with caulk color to match the frame to assure there is no air penetration. The entrance door within this foyer has significant wall damage at the entrance door and this will require removal and repair of this disintegrating wall area with new moisture resistant drywall. This shall be taped and spackled and paint the entire interior of the foyer with paint color to match adjacent wall colors. There are also four (4) existing egress doors on the east end of the building out of each of the classrooms. These doors require new weather stripping to prevent any drafts from penetrating the door/frame system.
