Description | The landfill site is located on a former gravel pit encompassing approximately 34 acres, and operated from 1950 to 1979 accepting residential, commercial waste and construction debris. A perimeter landfill gas (LFG) collection, control and mitigation system was first installed in 1981 after the landfill ceased operation in 1979, along the east boundary bordering and fronting 14th Street. The current gas extraction system consists of 39 perimeter wells, 20 interior gas wells, and 21 boundary probes. This project consist of upgrading the current Landfill Flare Station to a Carbon Extraction System that consists of a Carbon Filtration Skid, a Carbon System Electrical Panel, and a shade structure. The portion of the existing Landfill Flare Station that will no longer be used, such as the existing flare, skid frame, blowers, and inlet and outlet piping, will be demolished. Since the methane gas production of the landfill can no longer support the continuous operation of the existing flare system, the new proposed system can more efficiently and effectively remove the methane gas production for the remaining life span of the landfill. |
