Description | The work shall consist of, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: 1. Installation of parallel 14" HDPE water mains between Great Diamond Island and Little Diamond Island. 2. Installation of ductile iron pipe, fittings and connections at both ends of the submerged mains. Each bid must be accompanied by Bid Guaranty in form of certified check or bid bond in amount of five percent (5%) of the total amount of the bid. Aperformance bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, and labor and material payment bonds in like amount will be required prior to execution of the Agreement. Bidder must have a Portland excavator's license and obtain an excavation permit and comply with all rules and regulations associated with the municipal street opening ordinances. If the cost of ductile iron or hdpe pipe materials escalates between the bid date and shipping date through no fault of the contractor, the Contractor shall notify PWD in writing of the total increase. The Contractor shall supply PWD with invoices, bills of sale or pricing sheets to substantiate the notice. The contract will be adjusted through a change order to account for the cost difference between the shipping price and bid price. The Contractor will be paid for stored materials per the agreement. Bidder agrees to substantially complete the work on or before December 1, 2023 and achieve final completion by December 15, 2023. No work is allowed between May 15 and September 15. If substantial completion is not achieved by the specified date, the Bidder further agrees to pay as liquidated damages, the sum of $500.00 for each consecutive calendar day until substantial completion is achieved. No bids may be withdrawn within sixty (60) days after date of opening thereof. Right is reserved to refuse or reject any or all bids or to waive any informality in proposals received and to award work at discretion of the General Manager acting in the best interests of the Portland Water District. |
