Description | This project provides funding for a series of improvements to the parking lots of several park facilities. The improvements will include asphalt repair and maintenance of parking lots. Many lots are more than 25 years old and have never had any preventative maintenance work completed. These parking lots are cracked, which allows water to penetrate the surfac e and further damage the asphalt and creates potholes that present hazards to the public. The asphalt repair part of this project will address these issues and extend the life of these parking lots. The second component of this project is asphalt maintenance where preventative care techniques will be used to extend the useful life of relatively new asphalt by up to 7 to 10 years. Funding for FY 2023/24 will provide for parking lot improvements at Timkens Community Center and 295 Complex. This project helps to meet Council's goal of budgeting and allocating resources in the public's best interest by preserving public assets and by employing lowercost pavement preservation techniques to reduce the long-term cost of ownership of parking lots. Project is included Spartanburg County FY 2024-2028. As of December 18, 2023, this is an active project. Parking lot improvements have recently been made at Va-Du-Mar Park, Cleveland Park, Woodruff Leisure Center, Holsten Creek Park, Linville Hills Park, and Berry Field. Improvements at Chesnee Community Center and Inman Mills Park are currently underway. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available. |
