Description

Renovation of a mixed-use development in Northbrook, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a fire / police facility; and municipal facility. The Village remains committed to maintaining its public assets while building an operating service model that reflects the community's standards. The Village's Fire, Police, and Public Works departments each have significant facility improvement needs and, from an overall perspective, no longer meet the operational needs for their intended purpose, are not current with modern service delivery, and face many maintenance challenges. In 2016/2017, the Village Board's Ad Hoc Facilities Committee directed staff to conduct facility assessments for Fire Station 11, the Police Station and the Public Works Fleet Maintenance Garage. The Facilities Conditions Assessment and Report Card and a Facility Needs Assessment was completed by Healy Bender in March 2019. The process was put on hold as the Village considered options for its 1657 Shermer property and during the COVID-19 pandemic. While focusing on each department's public safety responsibilities and emphasizing sustainability, technology, community, and flexibility, the Village is prepared to move forward with next steps towards both long-term and short term facility improvements. At direction of the Committee of the Whole on November 9, 2021, costs proposed in FY 2022/2023 are intended to fund professional service expenses related to the completion of a revised Space Needs Assessment, Site Selection, and Schematic Design for each facility. This project is included in the city's 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of June 30, 2022, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.Total sq ft for project not available at this time.
